A City Built Around Industrial Power

City of Industry is almost entirely commercial and industrial land, running for miles along the SR-60 and its rail lines, from the Puente Hills Mall area on Azusa Ave past the SR-57 interchange and the Metrolink station on Brea Canyon Rd. Along Valley Blvd, Gale Ave and Crossroads Pkwy, the typical building is a warehouse, distribution center, cold-storage facility or plant.

Those buildings run on three-phase power, usually at 480V, and their switchgear, feeders, dock equipment and lighting have to hold up to round-the-clock operation. Left Coast Electric does this work for owners, operators, developers and the GCs who build and re-tenant these facilities, from our San Dimas headquarters a short drive up the SR-57.

Permits: LA County Building & Safety at Industry City Hall

City of Industry is one of the cities that contract with Los Angeles County Public Works for building and safety services. For addresses inside the city, electrical permits come from LA County Building & Safety’s City of Industry office at City Hall, 15625 Mayor Dave Way. Building, electrical, mechanical and plumbing applications are filed online through the county’s Building and Safety Online Plan Check System (BSOP), and projects that need plan check must have city Planning approval first. We prepare the submittal and book the inspections.

Neighboring Hacienda Heights, Rowland Heights and Avocado Heights are unincorporated. They also use LA County Building & Safety, but through the county office assigned to the address, not the Industry City Hall counter.

Two Possible Electric Utilities

Most Industry buildings are on Southern California Edison, but the city’s own municipal utility, Industry Public Utilities (IPU), serves part of the city. Service planning, metering and shutdown scheduling differ between the two, so we confirm the utility before pricing a service upgrade.

Nearby Work: Quick Quack Car Wash, Covina

Follow Azusa Ave north from the Puente Hills Mall and you reach our closest named project: the electrical for the ground-up Quick Quack Car Wash at 940 N. Azusa Ave in Covina, built with general contractor Eleven Western Builders.

For Homeowners Next to Industry

Few people live inside City of Industry. For homeowners in nearby Hacienda Heights, Rowland Heights and La Puente, we handle panel upgrades, EV chargers and troubleshooting. Panel upgrades →

Is my building served by Southern California Edison or Industry Public Utilities?

It depends on the address. Most of City of Industry is served by Southern California Edison, but Industry Public Utilities, the city’s municipal electric utility, serves part of the city. Your electric bill names the utility, and we confirm it before designing a service upgrade.
