Where We’re Based, and Where We Work
Left Coast Electric isn’t headquartered in downtown Los Angeles, and we won’t pretend to be. We were founded in Claremont, where our CEO, Mark Reynoso, has lived his whole life, and our headquarters is now at 433 S Cataract Ave in San Dimas, which puts us closer to our team. That’s the eastern San Gabriel Valley, at the junction of the I-210 and SR-57.
From San Dimas, our crews work across Los Angeles County. Our home ground is the San Gabriel Valley and Pomona Valley, from Pasadena and Arcadia east to Claremont and Pomona, and south through West Covina, City of Industry, Walnut and Diamond Bar. We also take commercial and industrial projects farther into the county. Call with your address and scope, and we’ll tell you plainly whether it’s a good fit.
We’ve also done commercial work farther west, in Downtown Los Angeles (DTLA), Century City, El Segundo, Vernon and Commerce.
Who We Work For
Commercial and industrial work comes first for us. We are set up primarily for:
- General contractors who need an electrical subcontractor that prices the drawings clearly, stays on schedule and closes out cleanly
- Developers and owners building new pad buildings, industrial space and mixed-use projects
- Property and facility managers responsible for keeping tenants powered, buildings up to code and emergencies handled any time of day
Residential service comes second, but it’s still real work we do well: panel upgrades, rewiring, EV chargers and troubleshooting for homeowners across the same area.

How Electrical Permits Work Across Los Angeles County
“Los Angeles” can mean very different permit offices. Los Angeles County contains dozens of incorporated cities plus large unincorporated areas, and who issues your electrical permit depends on exactly where the address is, not what the mailing address says.
Inside the City of Los Angeles: LADBS
Addresses inside the City of Los Angeles get electrical permits and inspections from the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety (LADBS). Simple permits can be pulled online, and work that needs electrical plan review goes through the city’s electronic plan check. Inside the city, power comes from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), not Edison.
Unincorporated LA County: LA County Public Works Building & Safety
Communities such as Altadena, Hacienda Heights, Rowland Heights, Valinda and Charter Oak are unincorporated, with no city government. Permits there come from Los Angeles County Public Works, Building and Safety, through the county district office assigned to the address.
Contract cities: also LA County Building & Safety
Some incorporated cities contract with LA County Public Works for building and safety services. The county’s current list is Artesia, Carson, Cerritos, Industry, Irwindale, La Cañada Flintridge, Lakewood, La Mirada, Lawndale, Lomita, Rolling Hills, Santa Fe Springs and Westlake Village. In City of Industry, for example, county staff work from an office at Industry City Hall.
Every other city: its own building department
Most cities run their own building departments, each with its own portal, counter hours and quirks. Arcadia takes submittals only online through its EDGE system. Pasadena requires contractors to hold a city business license. Diamond Bar schedules inspections Monday through Thursday. We handle the submittal, track plan-check comments and book inspections wherever the job is.
The Utility Matters Too
Southern California Edison serves most of the San Gabriel Valley, but not all of it. Pasadena has Pasadena Water and Power, Azusa has Azusa Light & Water, part of City of Industry is served by Industry Public Utilities, and the City of Los Angeles has LADWP. Each utility has its own service-planning steps, transformer rules and lead times. Pasadena, for example, requires space for a city-owned transformer on private property for larger services. We confirm the utility before we price any service work.
